Press Release Electrica SA
BUCHAREST, January 10th – Due to adverse weather conditions (code red weather warning for snow and blizzard) during January 5th – 8th, 2017 period, the facilities of Electrica Group power distribution operators have been damaged – SDEE Muntenia Nord, SDEE Transilvania Nord and SDEE Transilvania Sud. The affected counties were as follows: Brăila, Buzău, Galați, Dâmbovița, Satu Mare, Maramureș, Alba and Brașov.
To remedy such breakdowns, hundreds of specialists have been mobilized, organized in over 80 intervention teams made up of electricity distribution operators employees and Electrica Serv S.A. employees.
“We are happy to say that, as of now, the power supply to the affected areas has been restored to normal. I want to thank consumers, who proved a great deal of understanding during this difficult time, and the hundreds of colleagues in the field, who challenged blizzards and temperatures down to the limit of endurance, day in day out, in order to restore the proper functioning of the electrical facilities”, stated Dan Cătălin Stancu, Electrica S.A. CEO.
The counties located in the South East part of the country were most affected, especially Brăila and Buzău, where the activity of the intervention teams was cumbered by inaccessible roads, thus requiring the support of the army teams, the Ministry of the Interior and local administrations, which have provided equipment and special vehicles to reach the installations affected by the extreme weather conditions. We take this occasion to thank them for their support.
We apologize for the inconveniences caused and assure all network users that we strive to provide electricity supply in the shortest amount of time possible and under normal conditions, according to the operating diagram.
